Clover Mama Afrika and MiX Telematics take to the road again - over 7,000 kilometres of 'giving back' [Bizcommunity (South Africa)]

(Bizcommunity (South Africa) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MiX Telematics is once again sponsoring Clover Mama Afrika's annual roadshow - a journey of more than 7,000 kilometres that includes support visits to 30 Clover Mama Afrika centres across South Africa...

The Clover Mama Afrika project appoints women who are already making a difference in their communities through outreach and community care by further empowering them with sustainable skills that can be transferred to the community at large. This year, the project celebrates 10 years of change and development.

"MiX Telematics is proud to be the transport partner for this project for the third year running and believe that there is no better way to give back than to support the need for personal development and entrepreneurship in South Africa - exactly the sentiment on which Clover Mama Afrika is based," says Brendan Horan, Managing Directorof MiX Telematics Africa. "Not only are we a keen sponsor of this great initiative, but we also ensure that we provide Clover with adequate vehicle tracking and route management, helping them arrive on time, safely, while reducing excessive fuel consumption throughout their journey." Professor Elain Vlok, Manager of Clover's Corporate Services, says: "Our aim at Clover is to ensure that we provide mentorship to our 'Mamas' who work so hard in their communities in making a positive contribution and bringing about change. We also like to demonstrate appreciation for the work they do, and use this time with them to identify what it is that they need for their centres to be able to perform optimally." After a successful two months of travel around Gauteng and the North West as the start of this roadshow, the team is now en route to Richard's Bay from which they embark on the remaining month-and-a-half trip across the country - including visits to Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal as well as parts of the Cape - and ending back in Johannesburg.

"This project has already impacted more than 15,500 children as well as over 2,500 elderly community members throughout South Africa, and we aim to continue with this commitment to the Mamas of our country," says Prof. Vlok.

"We are privileged to have the opportunity to take this trip with Clover, not only as we get to engage with these phenomenal women, but also as we have the opportunity to see them operate so effectively in their environments - making a real change within their communities," continues Horan. "We are committed to supporting the Clover Mama Afrika project again this year and look forward to witnessing the impact of increased skills' transfer and needs analysis through this roadshow." "At Clover, this annual roadshow provides us with the opportunity to really interact with the Mamas on a personal level and with the support of MiX Telematics we are able to both assess their ongoing needs as well as allocate further resources and time to these inspirational women," concludes Prof. Vlok.

Track the progress of the roadshow via the official Clover Mama Afrika online and social media channels: - Clover Mama Afrika website: http://www.mama-afrikanews.co.za/ - Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/CloverMamaAfrika? - Twitter: #DecadeOfChange About Clover Mama Afrika The Clover Mama Afrika project started as a humble project 10 years ago and has since developed into Clover's flagship CSI programme. The project currently has 40 Mamas who run successful care centres throughout South Africa. These remarkable women collectively care for over 15,500 children and 2,500 elderly people, many of which are abused, orphaned, homeless and vulnerable.

The Clover Mama Afrika project received the Rural Development Award at the 2nd Annual SA Premier Business Awards hosted by the Department of Trade and Industry in 2014. The project won the award for recognising and promoting community projects that are part of Government's strategic interventions in poverty alleviation.

Clover's part in this project is to empower these Mamas with vital skills such as: cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting, business management, food gardening and bread baking skills. Over and above the training sessions these women are all supplied with the necessary tools, equipment and infrastructure to create an income for their communities.
