Olo to invest USD88m on LTE rollout [TeleGeography CommsUpdate](TeleGeography CommsUpdate Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) WiMAX provider Olo has unveiled plans to invest USD88 million over the next five years on the construction of 1,000 Long Term Evolution (LTE) base stations, El Comercio writes. The company's general manager Igor Piliugin told the paper that the deployment will begin in mid-2015 if it gets all the necessary permissions from the Ministry of Transport and Communication (MTC). 'The challenge is the transport network and the technical issues, such as electricity, to reach the 24 departments. We are interested in Arequipa, Trujillo, Chiclayo and Lambayeque, but everything will depend on the authorisations of the [MTC],' the official added. Through the LTE network, Olo expects to offer its full suite of services to more than 80 cities in the provinces in an effort to improve the brand's presence outside of the capital, which currently accounts for 99% of sales. At present, the company's WiMAX platform is available in 24 districts of Lima and twelve other cities, and the company counts 53,000 subscribers, with a target of increasing that number to 63,000 by the end of the year.
