BRIEF: Comcast boosts lobbying effort with Washington hire [The Philadelphia Inquirer]

(Philadelphia Inquirer (PA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Oct. 24--Boosting its lobbying operation in Washington as it faces tough regulatory and legislative issues, Comcast Corp. has hired big-time lobbyist Mitch Rose as a senior vice president at NBCUniversal.

Rose will report directly to David Cohen, Comcast's executive vice president who heads one of the nation's most potent lobbyist teams in Washington, the company said Friday.

Rose had been a vice president for government relations for the Walt Disney Co., ran his own Washington consulting firm and spent many years as a legislative aide on Capitol Hill.

Rose's "deep knowledge of the legislative process and industry experience along with his exceptional relationships on Capitol Hill and across Washington brings Comcast and NBCUniversal the perfect combination of skills," Cohen said in a statement.
