Uruguay Picks Kidbox Learning 1:1 As The Learning Mobile Platform for Its Educational Tablets Program Which is Part of Learning 1:1 Plan Ceibal Initiative

MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay --(Business Wire)--

KidBox has entered into an agreement with Plan Ceibal to provide KidBox Learning 1:1 -learning platform especially designed for mobile devices- for Tablets to be distributed this year among Uruguayan preschool and primary school children. KidBox will then reach thousands of students in Uruguay with an integral solution which is custom-made for its use in 1:1 teaching program.

Plan Ceibal, considered a model on connecting teaching and technology in Latin America and worldwide, has already delivered 600,000 laptops and no-cost Internet access to students and teachers in primary education and basic core curriculum on secondary school and vocational training.

Students in Plan Ceibal program will have access to a learning environment designed for 1 to 1 programs with tablets. KidBox Learning 1:1 (renamed as Ceibal OS for its implementation within Plan Ceibal) offers students an intuitive interface which adapts to the age of the child and to the plan of studies as well as flexibility to provide educational contents in different formats without need of permanent Internet connection. Students may then have access to an educational application suite which turns an Android (News - Alert) tablet into an educational platform which boosts learning in students of different ages.

"Uruguay is the first country in the world to have successfully implemented the delivery of one laptop per child in public schools, and in KidBox we are very proud of being picked up as the learning platform for its Educational Tablets. We have worked together with Plan Ceibal to offer a complete solution that enables students to access the best educational content at any time and from any place," said Martín Larre, KidBox´s Co-CEO. "Plan Ceibal is an innovative initiative, an international example in one to one education programs, we are sure that the use of Tablets will contribute to support this successful project."

The flexibility of its platform, which enables to remotely manage edcational contents in Tablets, as well as add applications and extra content to support students in their plan of studies, was key for the Uruguayan project to choose KidBox. Platform software is also updated remotely and it possible to monitor the use of tablets.

Moreover, KidBox Learning 1:1 offers an App Store that makes it easy and simple for students to download books and applications, without need to sign in to Google (News - Alert) Play.

"We are very proud of the results of our work with KidBox. By working on a pilot project within classrooms together with teachers, we were able to define an interface for Android tables applied to the education of small children and KidBox was able to capture these ideas in Ceibal OS, which is already operating in Plan Ceibal tablets," expressed Miguel Brechner, President of Plan Ceibal.

"In the case of Plan Ceibal, we offer a double grouping of contents in 'Worlds' and in 'Areas of Knowledge,' in accordance with the national education program. It was intended to show contents in such a way that is valuable for students and teachers at the time of picking the resources to mediate teaching and learning processes," says Alan Kind, Co-CEO of KidBox.

KidBox Learning 1:1 preserves students within their educational environment and they are able to access the Android mode of the tablet by entering a password. Therefore, adults responsible for the child who have this password will have access to an Android Tablet which will foster their social digital inclusion.
