issuu and Jumpstart Partner to Bring Jumpstart's Read for the Record® to Digital Readers Around the Globe

PALO ALTO, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

issuu, a digital reading platform, and Jumpstart, a national early education organization, have partnered for Jumpstart's 9th annual Read for the Record, which will take place on October 21, 2014 and mobilize millions of people to celebrate literacy by participating in the largest shared reading experience.

issuu will make this year's official children's book "Bunny Cakes" by bestselling author and illustrator, Rosemary Wells, available to readers digitally. The book will be embedded on Jumpstart, powered by issuu, on October 21 from 12 AM to 11:59 PM, for participants spanning the globe to celebrate literacy and increase awareness around the importance of high-quality early education, especially among low-income areas.

"We are in a ime where many children are using technology younger than before, and as a platform that gives readers free access to millions of publications around the world, we are in constant support of literacy," said issuu CEO, Joe Hrykin. "At issuu, our mission is to connect great content and readers, and we are happy to have the opportunity to bring this year's book to children for free digitally on connected devices. We hope this encourages more educators, parents, and caregivers around the globe to participate in Jumpstart's Read for the Record and help surpass 2013's record breaking day."

"I love Read for the Record, and early education is something I am extremely passionate about. This year we are thrilled to partner with issuu in order to provide readers around the globe with digital access to this year's official Read for the Record book, Bunny Cakes, " said Bridget Moynahan, actress and star of CBS' Blue Bloods and member of Jumpstart's National Board of Directors. "Free online and mobile access to the book means that anyone with access to the internet can participate in the campaign from wherever they are!"

Since 2006, Jumpstart has continued to surpass its records for Read for the Record, with over 11.5 million children and adults participating and over 1.6 million books donated to children living in low-income areas.
