Google Has A New 8.9-inch Tablet, Its Called The Nexus 9 [Mobile 88 Online (Malaysia)]

(Mobile 88 Online (Malaysia) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) There's big, and there's bigger.

Aside from the Nexus 6, Google has also today unveiled the Nexus 9, their new-sized tablet which features an almost 9-inch display. While the search engine giant employs Motorola to create the new Nexus flagship phone, they opted for HTC to work on the Nexus 9.

The Nexus 9 joins the Nexus tablet family which is made up of the Nexus 7, Nexus 7 (2013 edition) and Nexus 10 developed by Asus and Samsung respectively. It is designed with a soft grip back and a thinness of 7.9mm to ensure a comfortable handling experience. Incredibly, it weighs at just 425g. Compare that to the iPad Air which has a far smaller display and weighs slightly heavier at 469g.

With a minimalist and sleek design coupled with delicate curves, brushed metal sides and a slim bezel, the Nexus 9 doesn't skim on the aesthetics side of things. Being a HTC product, you can be assured of high-quality speakers with the BoomSound speakers lining up at the top and bottom of the device. It comes as no surprise that it will be shipped with the all-new Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The specs list is below.

   • 8.9-inch IPS LCD display (1536 x 2048 pixels; 281ppi)    • 2GB RAM    • Quad-core 2.3GHz     • 64-bit Nvidia Tegra K1 processor    • 16GB/32GB internal memory storage    • Android 5.0 Lollipop    • 8MP rear camera    • 1.6MP front-facing camera    • 6,700mAh battery The Nexus 9 can also be used as your daily work driver as there's an optional magnetically-attached keyboard ala the Microsoft Surface.

Priced at a starting USD399 (around RM1,300) it comes in three color options – Lunar White, Indigo Black and "Sand". Those residing in the US will be able to preorder it starting tomorrow (October 17) ahead of its general release on November 3. Let's hope it will make its way to Malaysia soon!
