Redline Communications Selected by Super-Major Oil Company to Wirelessly Connect their Digital Oilfield

(Canada Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) TORONTO, Oct. 15, 2014 /CNW/ - Redline Communications (www.rdlcom.com) Group Inc. (TSX: RDL), a leading provider of mission-critical wireless networks for the oil and gas industry, today announced that it has received a contract to provide a high-speed wireless network for a digital oilfield owned and operated by a "super-major" oil company – one of the five largest publicly-owned global oil and gas companies. This is the second super-major oil company to deploy Redline as the field telecom solution of choice into their digital oilfield operations.

Redline will be providing a robust high speed wireless network that will enable advanced automation within their oilfield. Using the Redline Virtual Fiber™ network infrastructure, data can be collected in real-time from sensors at hundreds of wells operating in this oilfield and delivered to a central location for analysis and action. Having centralized and timely information about well performance allows the operator to maximize uptime and optimize output. Controlling sensors remotely over the network means that necessary adjustments to well operations can be made without the time, cost and risk of sending a person to the well(s) to make manual adjustments.

This oil and gas operator selected Redline after conducting rigorous in-field tests to ensure that Redline could deliver the power, versatility and reliability required for a mission-critical field network. The Redline system will replace an existing 3rd party WiMAX system and will be fully installed before the end of 2014. In addition to this full field deployment, pilot projects with Redline equipment are underway in other oilfields owned by this super-major.

"The energy producers market is a small community, whose members are increasingly using Redline's purpose-built wireless networks to power their digital oilfields," said Louis Lambert, vice president oil and gas sales for Redline. "We enjoy proving our solution in the customer's actual environment, and we're pleased to deliver a solution that exceeds their expectations and those of other major and super-major oil companies." Redline Virtual Fiber™ network systems give oil and gas customers industry-leading network range and speeds and the lowest latency of any similar wireless systems, operating more like fiber optic networks which are too costly and impractical for most oil and gas applications. These network attributes mean Redline equipment can be used for a wide range of applications in the oilfield, including real-time drilling, machine-to-machine (M2M) communications in enhanced oil recovery (EOR) operations, SCADA networks, real-time video surveillance and video collaboration, business systems and collaboration applications, as well as voice and data communications.
