India : MEDIATEK launches MT6595 true octa-core 4G LTE System on Chip (SoC) in INDIA [TendersInfo (India)](TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MediaTek has launched its MT6595 true octa-core 4G LTE System on Chip (SoC) in India, targeting the premium 4G smartphone market in the country. Devices featuring the new MT6595 are expected to arrive by the year end. First the MT6595 was announced in February. The global chip-maker aims at partnering with Indian smartphone manufacturers for upcoming 4G LTE smartphones in the country. Finbarr Moynihan, General Manager- Corporate Sales International, MediaTek, said, 4G LTE smartphones will take time to go mainstream in India as 3G smartphones will continue to dominate. However, 4G LTE smartphones will start gaining momentum from next year. Recently, MediaTek announced a new R&D facility in Bengaluru and carried out an investment to the tune of US$200 million in the Indian economy. Moynihan said, We will continue to expand our R&D facilities in India. The new Bengaluru facility together with MediaTek s Noida facilities will boost our R&D capability in the country. Speaking regarding the company plans to collaborate with Mozilla s Firefox operating system, Moynihan said, MediaTek currently is focusing on Google s Android OS only.
