Fortinet conducts global launch at GITEX [ITP.net (United Arab Emirates)]

(ITP.net (United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Fortinet is using GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK as the venue for a worldwide launch of a new product, says Alain Penel, the company's Regional Vice President, Middle East.

The network security provider is this week launching its FortiGate-3810D, a data centre firewall appliance with 100GbE interfaces and 300+Gbps throughput at its stand in Hall 1 at GITEX.

The product is designed to meet stringent performance and connectivity demands of next generation high-speed data centres, according to the firm. It uses FortiASIC Network Processor 6 technology, a solution that can now be implemented in an appliance form factor. The FortiGate-3810D's 3U appliance is built to save space and power and includes features such as virtual domain and transparent mode, allowing networks to be segmented.

Penel says that, although the investment to be at the show was significant, it was worth it to showcase the new appliance. "There are many aspects of GITEX that is attractive for Fortinet. It is a big investment, but there was no discussion; it is key for us to be here," he says.
