(Canada Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) TORONTO, Oct. 8, 2014 /CNW/ - Harris Institute is the only Canadian college in Billboard Magazine's 'Top 11 Music Industry Schools'. "The only true measure of a post secondary school is the outcome for its graduates", says John Harris, who founded the college in 1989. "We set out 25 years ago to prepare students for lifelong careers in music and that objective is being realized", In 2014 Harris alumni have received 15 JUNO, Grammy, CCMA, LEO, Platinum, Canadian Screen and CARAS awards and nominations. Many alumni are in senior positions throughout the industry including Universal, Sony/ATV, Lacquer Channel, IMAX, Metalworks, Nelvana, Deluxe, Technicolor, Arts & Crafts, Phase One and many others have established successful companies.

Harris Institute's accelerated one-year Audio Production Program APP and Arts Management Program (AMP) each include 60 courses taught by 56 active award winning leaders and start in March, July and November. In 2014 the Arts Management Program became the only college program in North America to achieve six 0% Student Loan Default Rates.

A first-of-its-kind partnership with the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) offers scholarships for Harris students to earn a Diploma, Degree and Master's Degree in 32 months. The partnership has enabled 94 graduates to earn Degrees and MA's in Scotland over its nine-year history.

The college will celebrate its 25th Anniversary with a reunion at Toronto's Hugh's Room on Sunday, November 2nd. The event will feature a performance by 'The Invigilators" (faculty) and the $10 cover will support the UWS/Harris 'International Tour Management' Program that has enabled seven Scottish and Canadian artists to tour internationally.
