Fujitsu Successfully Demonstrates Transport SDN Interoperability Using Real-World Scenarios

Fujitsu, a leading provider of business, information technology, and communications solutions, today announced that it has successfully demonstrated Transport Software-Defined Networking (SDN) interoperability, as part of a series of tests sponsored by the Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF (News - Alert)) and the Open Networking Foundation (ONF). The two groups seek to accelerate adoption of OpenFlow™ and Transport SDN technologies that enable increased network programmability to support a new era of dynamic services.

Fujitsu (News - Alert) collaborated with other members of the ONF Optical Transport Working Group to develop the OpenFlow™ extensions that are being prototyped and tested in both CDPI (Control Data Plane Interface) and CVNI (Control Virtual Network Interface) forms. In the demonstration, Fujitsu used its FLASHWAVE® 9500 Packet Optical Networking Platform (P-ONP) and demo controller, based on its Virtuora™ NC SDN Controller software. Successful testing was also performed on Controller Northbound interfaces for Service Request and Topology APIs developed through the OIF.
