Smart passport for professionals [New Straits Time (Malaysia)]

(New Straits Time (Malaysia) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) BLACKBERRY has launched its version of the phablet known as the "Passport", which is designed to change the way consumers look at smart devices.

Targeting productivity-driven business professionals, the device boast a unique design - a large square touch-screen and a three-row QWERTY keyboard - inspired by actual passports.

Weighing 196g and with dimensions of 128mm x 90.33mm x 9.3mm, it is not too bulky to be tucked into pockets, although a tad too big to sit comfortably in one hand.

With a 4.5-inch HD screen, daily tasks such as reading, web surfing, writing emails and map navigation are made easy.

The display is made of the robust Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and forged stainless steel for added strength.

The BlackBerry Passport features the first ever touch-enabled keyboard, which is reminiscent of a laptop's trackpad - making typing, editing and navigating more effortless.

Running on the new BlackBerry 10.3 operating system, the device has new features like BlackBerry Assistant (likened to Siri and Google Now), BlackBerry Blend and Amazon AppStore and the default BlackBerry World.

The BlackBerry Blend allows users to get notifications for instant messages, emails, BlackBerry Messenger or text messages. It also provides access to documents, calendar, contacts and media in real time on any device and it works across desktop operating systems, including Mac OS X 10.7+, Windows 7+ and Android tablets.

The device is powered by a 3,450 mAh battery - the largest for any smartphone in the market today - which translates up to 30 hours of mixed usage.

Other components which make the Passport a dynamic business smartphone are a Quad Core 2.2 GHZ Processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB memory with a microSD slot that supports up to 128GB storage.

The Passport comes with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with 5x digital zoom and 1080p HD video recording, and a 2-megapixel front- facing camera.
