Toshiba Rolls Out Second-Gen Chromebook [Professional Services Close - Up](Professional Services Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Toshiba's Digital Products Division reported its second generation Chromebooks. "Our hardware design is evolving alongside Chrome OS. The Toshiba Chromebook 2 has the right mix of features and performance to make it a standout device in the category," said Philip Osako, senior director of product marketing, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division, in a release. "We designed our new Chromebooks for both the consumer and education markets, focusing on key experience-driving features that cross boundaries - a great screen, awesome audio and a stylish, thin and light design for greater portability." Toshiba's Chromebook 2 features a 13-inch display in a 12-inch chassis. Toshiba will offer two versions of its Chromebook 2 - an entry model with a standard HD display and a model featuring a brilliant Full HD (1920 x 1080) display with IPS technology. Both models feature a sound system tuned by Skullcandy that delivers audio with attacking bass, natural vocals and precision highs and sets a new bar for Chromebooks. "Skullcandy has a history of pioneering in audio by combining art, color and graphics and trend with high quality audio technology to make accessories that balance lifestyle and performance," said Sam Paschel, CCO of Skullcandy. "Working with Toshiba enables us to bring an enhanced audio experience to Chromebooks that lives up to the high standards we set for our headphones." It is equipped with an HD webcam, one USB 3.0 port, one USB 2.0 port, HDMI output, SD Card slot, and a security lock slot. Retail availability begins Oct. 5.
