Emulex Updates on I/O Connectivity Solutions [Professional Services Close - Up]

(Professional Services Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Emulex said that its OneConnect family of Ethernet and Converged Network Adapters (CNAs) and LightPulse Gen 5 (16Gb) Fibre Channel (FC) Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) are optimized for the next generation of servers based on the new Intel Xeon processor E5-2600/1600 v3 product families (formerly code-named Haswell), delivering added performance, scalability and efficiency.

According to a company release, Emulex I/O connectivity solutions are designed to support next generation workloads such as big data analytics in-memory databases, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), and emerging compute architectures, such as network functions virtualization (NFV) for telco and OpenStack or OpenCompute-based cloud computing.

"The new Intel Xeon processor E5-2600/1600 v3 product families provide one of the fundamental building blocks to support scale- out, cloud architectures and next generation workloads. The new Emulex OneConnect OCe14000 family of Ethernet adapters is designed to maximize many of the new workloads that leverage the new Intel Xeon platform such as big data analytics, Ethernet-based storage, SAP Hana in-memory databases, the telco transition to NFV and classic enterprise workloads," said Shaun Walsh, senior vice president of marketing, Emulex. "Emulex is particularly excited about the new Intel Xeon platform because it can change the way applications are delivered and the scale with which people can communicate and interact. It does this with a footprint and a power window that is beneficial both from a cost and environmental perspective."
