Jamaica : DIGICEL GROUP plans to conclude nationwide digital network in 3 years [TendersInfo (India)]


(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Digicel Group CEO Barry O'Brien stated that the company is expecting to conclude a nationwide digital cable TV and broadband network in Jamaica within the next three years.

Recently, Digicel has acquired Telstar Cable's cable and fibre network in Jamaica. In July, the acquisition was announced. Digicel will start to exchange Telstar's legacy infrastructure with digital infrastructure.

Telstar delivers cable TV, broadband, and VoIP services. It is located in capital city Kingston and owns a licence to operate in Portmore.



According to Digicel, the new network will allow the firm to provide cable TV and residential broadband services across the country. The cable TV market in Jamaica is dominated by Columbus Communications that runs under the Flow brand.
