Huawei in addition also declared plans to ramp up investment in its professional services business.

The division concentrates resources on five areas: consulting and systems integration; open digital operations; building open cooperative ecosystems; big data and user experience management; and migrating from traditional BSS/OSS to what Huawei calls 'telco OS evolution'.

Its spending plan covers a 3 year period and began earlier this year with the launch of two new labs, one based in China that aims on network functions virtualisation (NFV) and another in Ireland that addresses service provider operations.
