(Herald, The (Plymouth, England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ON Sunday the 9th September, Apple sent a rather limp shockwave through the tech world following their much-anticipated press conference at the Flint Centre in Cupertino, California.

While the Apple faithful were left elevated at the thought of new products hitting Apple's high street citadels in the coming year, the rest of us let out a tired sigh. The ethos for this year seemed to be 'bigger equals better' which really equates to more superficiality draining the mobile tech world's creative juices.

So what do we have to look forward to? First up there's the iPhone 6 which is likely just what you expected. It's bigger with a 4.7 inch screen for the standard model and 5.5 inches for the Plus.

I expect the stitching on jeans pockets are beginning to tear in fear already. Processor power is up, as is hard drive space with a 128GB model set to be launched, which is quite frankly the least they could have offered after silently retiring the wonderful 160 GB iPod Classic from their product line the same day.

While some will mourn the death of the mighty iPod click wheel, others will be celebrating a much smaller newcomer - the Apple Watch.

heading The Apple Watch shrinks everything down to wrist size so you can avoid eye contact with the world without ever reaching in your pocket. It's a staggering work of computer engineering but only time will tell if it has true purpose among casual users. Phone, music, internet, speedometer, maps, messaging, sketch pad... everything your iPhone does. Unfortunately the product has to be used in conjunction with an iPhone, leaving the market for dedicated Apple Watch users dead on arrival.

heading heading Apple truly knows how to spin the market and this only makes me fear another innovative giant falling ill to their own web-spun market saturation. I will be watching carefully at what the future holds.
