About the Summit

The Summit is a five-day conference for OpenStack contributors, enterprise users, service providers, application developers and ecosystem members. Attendees can expect visionary keynote speakers, in-depth breakout sessions, hands-on workshops, collaborative design sessions and lots of networking. Keynote sessions will take place Monday and Tuesday, and the main conference and expo will run Monday through Wednesdy. Developer working sessions to determine the roadmap for the next software release, expected in April 2015, will take place Tuesday through Friday.

Europe Big Component of OpenStack Community Growth

The upcoming Summit marks the first time the OpenStack Summit has been convened in Europe. The event is expected to draw thousands of participants from around the world. The most recent installment of the twice-annual Summit was held in May, in Atlanta, Georgia, and drew more than 4,500 users, developers and executives from major telcos and enterprises. A video recap of the Atlanta summit and session videos and slides demonstrate the depth of user engagement and energy surrounding the community.

The OpenStack community is global, and Europe is home to a strong user base and industry ecosystem. Paris has one of the most active local user groups, and the city is home to an established OpenStack event series that has brought together cloud computing pioneers. Across Europe, government interest in open source and cloud is growing, and OpenStack has seen strong telco and carrier adoption across the continent partially driven by data sovereignty issues.
