Telenor aims to expand 3G services in 32 cities [Pakistan Press International]


(Pakistan Press International Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Since the launch of 3G services back in June 2014 in four major cities, Telenor Pakistan aims to expand the 3G facilities in further 32 cities of the country comprising urban and rural areas to bring 'Internet for All' by end of September 2014.



This was briefed by Chief Marketing Officer Telenor Pakistan, Irfan Wahab Khan, on Monday during a media meeting in Karachi.

During the fourth phase of commercial roll out, 3G services are being launch in Attock, Bahawalpur, Bannu, DI Khan, Jhelum, Kohat, Mardan, Muzaffargarh, Okara, Pakpattan, Sahiwal, Wah & Taxila along with the entire Rawalpindi-Lahore G.T Road.


On the occasion, Khan said that free trial of 3G services will be offered to customers in the relevant areas for two weeks and the subscribers would be notified about the end of free trial service via SMS. "The customers can enjoy 50 MBs of free data for two weeks of free trial services," he added.

Moreover, he said that there was a healthy uptake of 3G customers in recent months and it would spur the device and applications eco-system in Pakistan, adding, the average data volume usage of 3G customers was more than double the average data volume of 2G users with Facebook, Twitter and online classified.

He also announced the launch of coming up services 'Telenor Music' where customers can access to Hollywood, Bollywood and Pakistani songs including local languages songs.

During question answer session, he urged taxes should be lowered for customer's easy approach to smart phones. Moreover, he said that infrastructure sharing, spectrum sharing, would decline the installation cost of towers and cost of relocating towers would be declined up to 60% to 70% as a result of which more people would have communication access.
