Azerspace to broadcast more Turkish channels


(AzerNEWS (Azerbaijan) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Azerbaijan's Space Agency Azercosmos has signed a number of important contracts during the Eurasian information technologies exhibition CeBIT in Istanbul, Turkey.

The Agency and Turkish company NEBA signed a contract on broadcasting Turkish channels via the first Azerbaijani satellite Azerspace-1 on September 14.

At the signing ceremony, Azerbaijan was represented by Deputy Ministry of Communications and High Technologies Iltimas Mammadov, and NEBA by its CEO Mustafa Serez.

Serez noted that the technological capabilities of the satellite stand at a high level.

Turkish channels will start broadcasting from September. By this moment, Azerspace-1 has already broadcasted several Turkish channels, which can be received free of charge.

Azercosmos, the only satellite operator in the South Caucasus region, provides satellite resources for rendering telecommunication services and digital broadcasting, VSAT network.



Azerspace-1 telecommunication satellite covers Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, Central Asia and North Africa.

The satellite was originally designed to offer digital broadcasting services, internet access, and data transmission. It has also set up multiservice VSAT networks and offered governmental communication services.


Some 80 percent of the satellite's resources are available for commercial purposes. The second satellite is scheduled to be launched in 2017.

Azerspace is broadcasting over 80 TV and radio channels including Georgian, Turkish, Ukrainian, and South African TV channels. The TV is available when satellite antennas configured with 11,169 MHz frequency, 20,400 speed, Horizontal and FEC - 5/6 polarization.
