Journal: Corrections and clarifications

(Guardian (UK) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) * Quick crossword No 13,837, which should have appeared in Saturday's Review section, appears instead on page 37 of today's main section; its solution is on the back page of today's G2. Apologies for the production error that led to the repetition of an earlier crossword in place of No 13,837 in Saturday's paper.

1/8 We got two abbreviations mixed up in editing an article about proposed security measures for air passengers travelling to America (Pre-flight interrogations planned for trips to the US, 12 September, page 10). When the German Left party MP Andrej Hunko was quoted as saying "we should consider cancelling EU-US deals on data exchanges between police and secret services such as TFTP", he was referring to the Terrorist Finance Tracking Programme, not the "trivial file transfer protocol".

* A report (Culture of Benefits Street is a myth, say academics, 12 September, page 28) omitted a crucial "not" from a sentence that should have read: "A DWP spokeswoman said the department did not collect data showing three generations who had never worked".

* An article (Retailers under pressure to back no vote in Scottish poll, 12 September, page 1) referred to "Sir Bob Kerslake, the head of the UK civil service". That should have been a reference to Sir Jeremy Heywood, who took over that role from Kerslake this month.

* The caption on a photograph entitled Maria wrongly attributed it to "Astrid Bystrom from the book PINKD". It is by Arvida Bystrom, and is from the magazine Polyester Zine (Colour coded, 11 September, page 6, G2).
