Leveraging Broadcoms compression and decoding technology, Korea Telecoms Olleh GiGa UHD (4K) set-top box (STB) delviers 60 frames-per-second (fps) video with 10-bit colour at four times the resolution of conventional HD displays. Broadcom will demonstrate its full line of HEVC-enabled SoCs at IBC, taking place 12-16 September in Amsterdam. Korea Telecoms Olleh GiGa UHD service permits subscribers to search for programmes via voice commands and watch 4 different channels at the same time. Customers can in addition check for live statistics in sporting event broadcasts and view content in many languages. Korea Telecom intends to launch a range of programming options, offering more than 500 Ultra HD programme choices by year-end.
