United States : Riverbed Expands Range of Cloud Security Solutions on AWS Marketplace by Introducing Standalone Web App Firewall [TendersInfo (India)]

(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Riverbed Technology, the leader in application performance infrastructure, today announced a new Amazon Machine Image (AMI) of the Riverbed® SteelApp Web App Firewall, which was previously only available as a module that could be added to the Riverbed SteelApp Traffic Manager. SteelApp Web App Firewall and SteelApp Traffic Manager are part of Riverbed s #1 virtual application delivery controller (ADC) product family formerly known as Stingray.

The enterprise is transforming into a mix of owned applications and cloud-based services, with core apps and data usually running on-premises in private data centers and other apps running in the cloud. Now, SteelApp Web App Firewall can be deployed in a data center, private or public cloud like Amazon Web Services (AWS) to protect any instance of an application either permanently or as part of a cloud-bursting project.

With SteelApp, Riverbed revolutionized the ADC market by allowing customers to dynamically deploy an ADC per application with ADC-as-a-Service. The Riverbed SteelApp product family provides scalable, secure and elastic delivery of enterprise, cloud and e-commerce applications. With this new AMI for SteelApp Web App Firewall, Riverbed continues this innovation, helping customers scale their application deployments in the AWS Cloud up or down, knowing that the SteelApp Web App Firewall can dynamically match that flexibility to protect business-critical applications and the associated data and user information.

Traditional security architectures have not evolved to meet today s complex IT environments, like a hybrid cloud environment, said Jeff Pancottine, senior vice president and general manager of Riverbed SteelApp. With the new AMI for SteelApp Web App Firewall announced today, Riverbed makes it easy for customers to enhance the security of web applications deployed in the AWS Cloud, without changing the underlying application delivery architecture.

Detect and defend against common application vulnerabilities: Many security attacks start by looking for common application weak points such as unchecked input data, insecure application configuration and weak authentication. SteelApp Web App Firewall contains a comprehensive set of baseline signatures and identification tools to detect and block these exploratory requests out of the box.

Availability and pricing: Earlier this quarter, Riverbed introduced a new commercial model for its SteelApp Traffic Manager on AWS Marketplace giving customers flexibility for licensing cloud-based application delivery control and load balancing. Enterprises now have two pricing model options, hourly rates or annual licensing, for cloud-based application delivery and load balancing services on AWS Marketplace. The new AMI uses the hourly pricing model available on AWS.
