Acxiom opening Austin office, to hire 150 [Austin American-Statesman :: ]

(Austin American-Statesman (TX) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Sept. 09-- Arkansas marketing technology firm Acxiom is opening an Austin office to tap into the region's technical workforce.

The company, based in Little Rock, plans to fill up to 150 positions in areas including network engineering, security engineering and systems engineering; network architecture and project management.

Founded in 1969, Acxiom provides marketing and information management services. The company, which has 4,500 employees worldwide, collects and analyzes consumer and business information for customers.

"We are excited about opening new job opportunities for the local market," said Janet Cinfio, vice president of infrastructure and technology operations. "There is an incredible amount of technology talent in Austin which we hope to tap into as our operations continue to grow and expand." Acxiom is the latest company based outside of Austin to announce an expansion here. In the past year, California Web hosting company Metacloud, Finnish design firm Idean, New York-based software maker Signpost and Australian software maker Atlassian have all launched hiring initiatives in Central Texas.

Acxiom plans to open its offices in late November at River Place Corporate Park in far Northwest Austin. The company is leasing temporary space in the same office park until the offices are complete.

The company will host a recruiting event on Sept. 25 at 5 p.m. at Steiner Ranch Steakhouse, where applicants can meet executives and learn more about the company. Applications are being accepted through the careers section of the company's website.

Pete Winsted, an Austin attorney and chairman of economic development initiative Opportunity Austin, said "Acxiom is an industry leader that invests deeply in its communities. Acxiom's announcement serves as a testament to Central Texas' supportive business climate, strong technology sector and talent pipeline." ___ (c)2014 Austin American-Statesman, Texas Visit Austin American-Statesman, Texas at www.statesman.com Distributed by MCT Information Services
