Ascom Network Testing Introduces TEMS™ Capacity Manager

RESTON, Va. --(Business Wire)--

Ascom (News - Alert) Network Testing (www.ascom.com/nt) announced today that it has launched TEMS™ Capacity Manager, a revolutionary new software solution that addresses the complex problem of managing Radio Access Network (RAN) CAPEX investments for mobile network expansions. Currently, most network operators either overbuild and under-utilize network assets or add capacity too late - after the network performance declines and subscribers churn. With TEMS Capacity Manager, operators can now add capacity to their growing networks in a just-in-time manner based on the customer experience targets they want to provide to their subscribers.

"Knowing when to invest in network improvements is critical for operators," says Olga Yashkova, Program Manager-Communications, Frost & Sullivan. "Investing in network infrastructure expansion before it is needed results in additional maintenance and associated OPEX (News - Alert); expanding too late might translate into loss of customers due to dissatisfaction," she added.

With TEMS Capacity Manager, Ascom expands on its mission to deliver trusted solutions to mobile network operators that provide unprecedented visibility into network performnce, increase operational efficiency and provide maximum return on capital investments. TEMS Capacity Manager is based on sophisticated analytics that have been developed and refined in the world's most advanced mobile networks. It provides network planners with detailed information on utilization and customer experience at the network element level resulting in highly accurate investment schedules that can save CFOs tens of millions of dollars each year.

"Until now mobile operators have tried to manage capacity expansions based solely on network engineering KPIs, but that approach does not take into account the dynamic functionality of the RAN, especially the effects of soft capacity in 3G and 4G networks.", says Erik Tarnvik, Ascom Network Testing's CTO. He added "That means that expansions done in a just-in-case manner result in wasted investment and make CAPEX inefficient. With TEMS Capacity Manager, network planners know exactly where and when to add capacity to keep their subscribers happy. "

TEMS™ Capacity Manager will be demonstrated at Super Mobility Week in Las Vegas, September 9-11, and LTE Asia 2014 in Singapore, September 24-25.
