Toshiba Expands Virtual Desktop Service to Deliver Hosted Desktop Virtualization Service with New Flexible Offering

IRVINE, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc.'s Cloud Services and Solutions Division (CLD) today announced hosted virtual desktops designed to support Windows® Client or Windows Server® operating systems are available under the Toshiba Virtual Desktop Service (VDS) offering, a more robust & flexible service for SMBs who have been challenged by cost and complexity barriers to adoption. With the addition of this offering, the powerful, scalable and secure Toshiba Virtual Desktop Service (VDS) allows Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to deliver custom solutions to meet their customers' unique requirements. Toshiba VDS is a compelling solution for MSPs who are broadening their own cloud service portfolios in rapid response to enterprise and SMB decision-makers looking to keep their IT operations streamlined.

"MSPs have to develop custom solutions to meet their customers' requirements and our goal is to provide them with the best, most complete portfolio of services to do so," said Terry Cronin, vice president of Business Development and Marketing, Cloud Services and Solutions, Toshiba America Information Systems. "With the expansion of VDS, we are providing our MSP partners an even more flexible toolkit with which they are able to provide solutions for each of their customers' unique requirements."

"As more companies look to cloud solutions to create IT efficiencies and gain competitive advantage, we need to make available a full menu of options that align with the requirements of small, medium and large enterprises," said Ron Ben-Yishay, CEO of DynTek. "Toshiba is a partner with great credibility and a fully-ready solution built with brand name components that connect the endpoint to the data center with integrity and efficacy, regardless of the customer size, bandwidth and scale needs."

Developed to meet the specific needs of channel partners, the Toshiba VDS offering now enables MSPs to build within an environment designed to support Windows Client OS and Windows Server OS based hosted virtual desktops in either a persistent or non-persistent configuration. These enhanced features along with the ability to provide hosted virtual desktops with nearly any combination of virtual CPUs, RAM (News - Alert) and storage, allow MSPs to deliver solutions that fully address their customers' needs.

"As more organizations adopt desktop virtualization for their employees, Toshiba Virtual Desktop Service is providing flexble and reliable solutions for end-users," said Radhika Krishnan, vice president of Product Marketing and Alliances at Nimble (News - Alert). "By leveraging Nimble's Adaptive Flash platform within its new service, Toshiba enables their customers to deliver the highest levels of performance and responsiveness crucial for virtual desktop environments in a cost-effective manner."

As a global technology innovator, leading storage provider and laptop pioneer for over a quarter century, Toshiba offers the expertise and secure data center infrastructure to host, manage and deliver virtual desktops. Backed by technology partners NTT, storage industry leader Nimble Storage, and virtualization industry leaders Citrix and VMware, the Toshiba VDS is a scalable hosted desktop cloud solution that allows Windows and other business software applications traditionally located on individual PCs to be installed, stored, run and managed on servers in secure Toshiba data centers.
