Stephen Tsingas is a prime example for a classic American rags-to-riches story. Moving to the United States at age 10, his family was scraping to get by and Steve, dedicated to attending college, financed his education through numerous small jobs -- from mowing lawns to repairing cars to delivering pizzas. Willpower and endurance paid off, and Tsingas eventually earned a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Widener University (Chester, PA) and eventually an MBA from the University of Maryland, as well as merits and certificates, including a Professional Engineer license. While working for the Atlantic City Electric Company in New Jersey, Tsingas was sent to Trenton to argue in public hearings for an electric vehicle program. Shocked to learn the efforts the major automakers made to quash the proposal, he founded his first company, City Power Marketing LLC, which grew to a leader in the power marketing and trading industry. In order to support the introduction of electric vehicles into the market place, Tsingas became an early adapter and purchased one of the first Nissan Leafs and then talked his wife into getting a TESLA Model S. He eventually settled in Fort Lauderdale, FL, where he still lives with his wife and two small children.
