TEDMED Hive Invites i-Human Patients, Inc. to Demonstrate Virtual Physician Training

SUNNYVALE, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

i-Human Patients, Inc. (IHP) today announced that it was selected to join the TEDMED Hive, an elite community of startups and entrepreneurs working to enhance health care technology and solutions. IHP was chosen based on the success and future impact of its i-Human Patients® virtual physician training platform. Like a flight simulator for medical students and practicing clinicians, i-Human replicates the patient-physician diagnostic process to promote more accurate assessments and improve the quality of clinical care around the world. As part of the Hive delegation, IHP will demonstrate i-Human at the TEDMED conference, which will be simulcast in San Francisco and Washington, D.C. on September 10-12.

"Quality health care is a basic human right," said Norm Wu, CEO of IHP. "Yet much of the world's population struggles to maintain an adequate supply of well-trained clinicians. The U.S. too is in need of higher quality care, as one in 20 adult outpatients is misdiagnosed, half to potential harm. i-Human offers a low-cost, rapidly scalable educational technology that can both raise the quality of care in developed nations and enable developing nations to accelerate and improve training for qualified physicians."

Less than two years after i-Human's release, educators at 20 percent of all U.S. medical schools already subscribe to the platform or are currently developing case content on it in anticipation of future use. Using best practice case studies authored by top U.S. medical educators, the virtual physician diagnostic training program develops and reinforces core competencies, including the reasoning physicians use to diagnose and treat a wide range of health conditions, to improve patient outcomes.

Selected from among hundreds of applications and nominations, IHP will join scores of TEDMED Hive participants in an immersive and informal social environment dedicated to exploring and showcasing transformative startups. Participants range in focus from biotech, health IT, and mHealth to life sciences, health tech, and more. TEDMED showcases new approaches to a healthier future and the entrepreneurs powering those ideas through technology, creativity, and innovation.
