MNCPA Gift for Scholarships

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ST. CLOUD, Minn., Aug. 26 -- St. Cloud State University issued the following news release: The St. Cloud State University Foundation received a gift of $82,350 from the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants (MNCPA) Education Fund to establish a named endowment for scholarships to accounting students at the university.

MNCPA has a long history of providing these scholarships, and this gift is intended to continue that tradition.

"St. Cloud State has always produced successful CPAs who have gone on to make many contributions to the profession," said Betsy Adrian, president of MNCPA. "In addition, it has been my pleasure to work with St. Cloud State's accounting faculty, such as Kate Mooney and Harv Busta, through the years who have been strong supporters of the CPA designation." The gift will provide three scholarships annually to students with financial need in the Department of Accounting. To qualify, a student must be enrolled full-time as an accounting major, have an overall GPA of 3.25, have financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office, be a junior or senior and intend to sit for the CPA examination.

"We are very grateful for the generosity of the Minnesota Society of CPA's, and for their investment in St. Cloud State's accounting students," said Matt Andrew, vice president for University Advancement. "MNCPA has provided consistent support to St. Cloud State over many years, and we are appreciative of their desire to continue this relationship."
