Sitel announces 250 new job opening [San Angelo Standard-Times, Texas :: ](San Angelo Standard-Times (TX) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Aug. 26--SAN ANGELO, Texas -- In the news earlier this summer for pending layoffs, Sitel now has several new clients and is instead scrambling for 250 additional employees. "This is great news for the city and the workforce of San Angelo," Chamber of Commerce vice president of marketing Michael Looney said. "Sitel is a solid company with a strong employees base." Nearly two months ago Sitel told the Concho Valley Workforce Development Board and Chamber of Commerce it might have to send out 348 pink slips in 60 days -- right about now. "Sitel was nervous," Looney said. "They were told they were going to lose a big contract. They were in dire straits, and could be losing two-thirds of their people. So they went after new business and wound up bagging five new clients -- and Capital One is staying on." The contact center is in "Help Wanted" mode to immediately fill a 40 percent increase in positions. "It's a really good problem to have," Looney said. Among new customers is an expanding global satellite TV client, a Sitel news release reported. Newly hired associates will provide inbound customer service and sales support. Ideal candidates will have previous customer service experience, with strong computer knowledge preferred.
