Myanma Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) Modernizes Network with Dialogic NGN Infrastructure Solutions

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Parsippany, N.J. (PRWEB) August 26, 2014 Dialogic Inc., the Network Fuel® company, today announced that Myanma Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) selected Dialogic's intelligent call control solutions to modernize and expand its domestic core switching infrastructure. Under Myanmar's plans to privatize its telecommunications market, MPT anticipates adding millions of new users by 2016. In anticipation, MPT will deploy the Dialogic® ControlSwitchâ„¢ System as well as Dialogic's I-Gate® 4000 PRO and EDGE Media Gateways (MGWs) and BorderNetâ„¢ 4000 Session Border Controllers (SBCs) across multiple locations in Myanmar to cap its existing class 4 infrastructure and provide high-quality service as new operators enter the market.

"With the market opening up, we looked for a solution that would give us the geographic redundancy, scalability and unique bandwidth optimization necessary to stay competitive," said an MPT official. "We saw how other carriers were benefitting from Dialogic's technology, and knew it was the best solution to help MPT modernize our network while continuing to ensure reliable service for customers." As MPT began the process of upgrading its network and expanding its coverage to accommodate additional customers, scalability, cost and quality were paramount criteria in the company's assessment and selection of core transit switching technology. MPT selected infrastructure solutions from Dialogic, which teamed up with local partner Khine Thit Sar Co Ltd. (KTSCL) to successfully win the project. With the ControlSwitch System's distributed call control architecture and operationally efficient management, the Southeast Asian carrier can easily and quickly configure, provision and manage its infrastructure. MPT intends to deploy a distributed ControlSwitch System and I-Gate 4000 MGWs in multiple locations across Myanmar to reliably connect its local PSTN switches and provide connectivity to other operators, as well as BorderNet SBCs for voice over IP (VoIP) peering and subscriber access. The company is also partnering with Japan's KDDI to help with its aggressive plans to increase its subscriber base.

"MPT is looking to deliver an exceptional user experience at a low cost as it expands coverage and accelerates penetration of communications services in Myanmar," said Jim Machi, vice president of product management for Dialogic. "Instead of costly forklift upgrades, Dialogic's technology gives service providers the flexibility and reliability to support rapid increases in voice traffic, prepare for IMS migration, and adapt network architecture as they see fit."
