Octagon's Trax-5 computer handles multiple systems [Mining Engineering]

(Mining Engineering Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Octagon Systems' application-ready computing platforms set a benchmark in reliability for critical safety and productivity in mining applications. Mining customers can deploy their choice of thirdparty software applications, wireless technologies and interfaces into a single platform, without upgrades networks networks.

Designed with a rich set of input and output (I/O) data, the Trax-5 mobile computer performs the work of several systems, such as fleet management, situational awareness and equipment diagnostics. The computer's design enables the user to run multiple applications with 3D graphics capability. Using one computer platform simplifies installation and maintenance, increases efficiency and safety, and reduces technology clutter.

Key benefits include open architecture to run multiple programs simultaneously, an Intel Quad core with native virtualization support, 3D video performance, and wireless GPS and WiFi. Input and output data can be customized to a specific application.
