Nokia's Halbherr out of Here as Finnish firm loses key executive

(City A.M. (UK) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) NOKIA lost a key member of its senior management team yesterday, as the Finnish firm continues to realign its strategy following the €5.44bn (£4.3bn) sale of its mobile phone division to Microsoft.

Michael Halbherr, the head of the Nokia's navigation unit Here, will leave the company on 1 Sept-ember to pursue his own entrepreneurial interests, the company said in a statement.

Nokia said Cliff Fox, a senior vice-president from inside the unit, would take the role of acting head until a permanent leader was found.

Here is one of the three remaining divisions, alongside telecoms infrastructure arm Nokia Networks and its research and patent licensing arm Nokia Technologies, and accounts for around eight per cent of the group's sales.

Nokia president and chief executive Rajeev Suri said Halbherr "played a key role in making Here one of the strongest players in its sector, with a depth and breadth that is unique".
