APWG's Conference Maps Frontiers of Cybercrime in Investing and Mortgage Banking Sectors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. --(Business Wire)--

Global cybercrime-fighting association APWG is hosting its eCrime 2014 members' meeting and research conference in Birmingham, Alabama next month, with insights into next-generation electronic crime in the investing and mortgage banking sectors, as well as advanced research into fraud provenance tracing, programmatic cybercrime event data exchange and enterprise-wide fraud management.

APWG Secretary General Peter Cassidy said, "Account-level cybercrime against consumers and enterprises can damage accounts - but control fraud and investment fraud has the clear potential to damage markets and even economies. Our contributing researchers at this conference are mapping threatscapes that menace commerce and free markets as we know them."

eCrime 2014, held September 23-25, combines: the APWG's general members meeting for confidential member discussion and the peer-reviewed APWG Symposium on Electronic Crime Research for presentation of applied cybercrime research papers. The program's sessions cover every aspect of the dynamic cybercrime spectrum, from the latest crimeware technologies being thrown against consumer devices to data exchange protocols for cooperative response to cybercrime threats.

Program discussions will include:

  • Electronic Document Counterfeiting and the NextGen (News - Alert) Control Fraud
  • Mapping the Investment Fraud Ecosystem
  • Historical Analysis of Global Phishing Nexuses in the Last Four Years
  • Global Botnet Notification for Network Management Authorities
  • Predicting Phishing Attacks
