Be productive anywhere, anytime [Software & Services] [Times of India]

(Times of India Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) While I love my cozy home office, I don't like being tied down to my desk when I need to get work done. Being as restless as I am, I often need a few circuits around the park, a trip to the neighbourhood coffee shop, or a drive down to a friend's co-working space all to clear my head and crank out an article.

That's why I'm grateful for the flexibility that today's connected devices and cloud storage allow me: I can work wherever I please, on a range of devices, and pick up right where I left off without even thinking about it.

It's now easier than ever before to take your work with you - whether that means managing your home, tackling university course work or handling office duties. If you find yourself constantly on the move, around town or out of town, you'll want to check out these three great free apps that let you do more wherever you are.

Take control of to-dos with Wunderlist Nothing in my life gets done without it first being an item on my to-do list, and I only ever trust Wunderlist to help keep track of my tasks. I primarily use the desktop app to create separate lists for everything from grocery shopping to my photo shoot plans to travel itineraries, and add reminders, additional notes and files to each item. Later, when I'm out and about, the mobile app alerts me about upcoming tasks so I can get them out of my way and cross them off my list as I go.

You can also invite others to collaborate on lists, which makes it perfect for planning group projects with colleagues and even potluck dinners with friends. The app also works in tandem with browser extensions for Chrome and Firefox that let you add links, email messages and also movies from IMDb to custom lists so that you can check them out later. Wunderlist's slick interface, automatic syncing, ease of use and availability, on just about every popular platform, make it a joy to use daily - so you can look forward to actually getting things done, for a change.

Enter Evernote: a do-it-all note-taking app that lets you jot down your thoughts, save useful information and piece it all together on your own terms.

To get started, simply fire up the web, desktop or mobile app and create notebooks for whatever you want to work on: a novel, a new hobby, a personal journal, a list of grandma's recipes or even your latest project from the office.

Then, fill up your notebooks with notes, containing text, images, voice recordings and attached files. How you structure your content is completely up to you.

On the desktop, Evernote is an efficient writing tool that keeps all your ideas close at hand. When you're researching a topic, the handy Web Clipper extension, for a range of browsers, lets you quickly save entire formatted web pages, articles, images, and even screenshots that you can annotate with diagrams and text. Everything you clip is instantly synced to your account so you can find it all later. Plus, you can easily search for any content you've created or saved, including text within images and PDFs.

And if that isn't enough, Evernote's powerful mobile app is great for capturing photos, scanning documents, post-it notes and business cards with your smartphone camera. I use Evernote to research story ideas, save web pages to read later, and of course write all my articles. Since Evernote automatically saves my work, I can easily switch from one device to another and continue working seamlessly. If you've been looking for a way to get your ideas in order, look no further than Evernote.

With 15GB of free space and 100GB more at just $2/month, it's perfect to get started with and scale up as your usage increases. You can upload files to Google Drive via your browser, iOS and Android devices, and even install Drive on your desktop to save files to it as if it were a local folder on your hard drive.
