Couchbase Hires Enterprise and Mobile Industry Veteran Rod Hamlin as Vice President of Business Development


MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

Couchbase Inc., provider of the most complete NoSQL database, today announced the appointment of Rod Hamlin as its Vice President of Business Development, further strengthening its management team to accelerate the company's rapid growth as more and more enterprises look to Couchbase to power mobile and mission critical NoSQL applications.

Hamlin joins Couchbase in the midst of an explosive growth period driven by increasing enterprise adoption of NoSQL and mobile applications. Since the start of the year, Couchbase has raised $60M in funding, added new offices around the world, launched the industry's first mobile NoSQL solution and added more than 70 large enterprises to its growing list of customers. Couchbase's increasing success is driving massive interest in a rapidly expanding ecosystem. Hamlin will be responsible for strengthening and expanding relationships with existing partners and identifying and building partnerships with new companies that are part of the big data, NoSQL and mobile ecosystems.

Rod is a proven mobile and enterprise business development and sales executive having helped lead and grow several notable companies to IPO or successful acquisition. Before Couchbase, Rod ran business development for WIMM Labs, a pioneer in wearable Android technology, which was acquired by Google (News - Alert) in 2012. Prior to WIMM, Rod served as SVP of Sales & Marketing for Opera Software, a global leader in mobile browsing and advertising. Rod also owned the global P&L for several years at Nuance Communications (News - Alert) were he served as EVP of Global Sales and Professional Services. As an early employee with CRM leader, Onyx Software, Rod helped the company achieve a global presence and dynamic growth, leading to a successful IPO. Rod began his career with IBM (News - Alert) in Seattle, and has served on several advisory boards including Spoke Software and Jibe Mobile.
