DreamWorks Animation names DirecTV exec. as CFO(Associated Press Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) GLENDALE, Calif. (AP) — DreamWorks Animation, the company behind the "Shrek" and "How to Train Your Dragon" movies, said Monday it hired DirecTV executive Fazal Merchant as its new chief financial officer. Merchant will officially join the animation studio Sept. 15. He will replace Lew Coleman, who was moved into the role of vice chairman earlier this month. Coleman had been CFO since 2007. Merchant was most recently CFO and senior vice president at DirecTV's Latin America unit, which provides satellite TV services. Before that, he was a managing director at the Royal Bank of Scotland and Barclays Capital. He has also worked at automaker Ford Motor Co. in a number of financial management roles.
