Join APM Board and 'Make a Difference'

The reason why APM chairman Steve Wake joined the board was so he could 'make a difference'.
Describing the role of a board member as a 'deeply enriching and challenging experience', Steve is encouraging new candidates to be nominated for APM's 2014/15 board (http://www.apm.org.uk/election2014) before the deadline of 30th August.
He is looking forward to seeing nominations of high-calibre candidates from across all types of industry and sectors, not necessarily those who are specifically from a project management background.
Strategic thinkers and those, ideally, with experience of working at board level, will join a highly professional board (http://www.apm.org.uk/APMBoard) to ensure APM continues to enjoy its sustained success (http://www.apm.org.uk/news/apm-announce-sustained-success-201314) and is supported on its journey towards Strategy 2020 (http://www.apm.org.uk/2020).
Any Full member or Fellow has the opportunity to stand for board membership. It is a responsible, diverse and enjoyable role central to the governance and future direction of APM.
As APM is a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity, board members take on responsibilities as company directors and charity trustees.
It is strongly recommended that anyone wishing to stand for election should make sure they understand the nature of the role and read the candidate briefing pack in full (http://www.apm.org.uk/sites/default/files/open/Board%20Candidate%20Briefing%20Pack%20and%20Nominations%20Form%202014_v4.docx). Attendance at one of our volunteer orientation days is encouraged to ensure you are aware of the background and activities of APM.
All board members are expected to undertake committee roles (http://www.apm.org.uk/APMCommittees) and together with associated preparatory work, duties should occupy between 25 and 40 days a year. Elected board members will normally remain in office for three years before deciding whether to stand for re-election.
The current board comprises 14 members (http://www.apm.org.uk/APMBoard) (12 elected and two appointed). Four members of the board will shortly retire
Members wishing to stand for election require the support of two other Full members and need to complete the nomination form within the candidate briefing pack (http://www.apm.org.uk/sites/default/files/open/Board%20Candidate%20Briefing%20Pack%20and%20Nominations%20Form%202014_v4.docx).
The closing date for nominations is 30th August and a ballot of the eligible membership will follow, with the successful candidates taking office on 10th November 2014 at the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting.
