BT Sport signs Ian Wright and Robbie Savage and announces new look Saturday schedule


(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) BT Sport has confirmed that Ian Wright and Robbie Savage will join the broadcaster as experts across its football coverage, as part of a number of enhancements ahead of the new season.

Arsenal legend Wright will join BTs panel of analysts for exclusively live matches in the Barclays Premier League and the FA Cup, as well as other football programming. Robbie Savage, the former Wales international and Leicester City FC midfielder, will also join the punditry team and co-host a new Saturday morning show Matchday Live with Fletch & Sav - alongside presenter, Darren Fletcher.



The new show will kick-off BT Sports Saturday schedule at 10am ahead of its live Barclays Premier League fixture, with Fletcher and Savage presenting live from the grounds of the Barclays Premier League home club.

The show will cover the biggest stories of the day and the build up to the days football across the UK, Europe and beyond.


Matchday Live will run through all of BT Sports live programming on Saturdays. The Matchday Live schedule continues from noon when BT Sport brings fans one of its 38 live Barclays Premier League matches. This will be followed from 3pm every Saturday throughout the season by more live sport, including Aviva Premiership Rugby and European Champions Rugby, plus exclusively live action from Germanys Bundesliga, Italys Serie A or Frances Ligue 1.

SPORTSHUB, BT Sports news, debate and information programme, will complete Saturdays Matchday Live line-up with live shows and updates, bringing fans the latest stories and reaction from the world of sport.

BT Sport will kick off the new season in the Barclays Premier League with exclusively live coverage of Louis van Gaals first league game as the new Manchester United manager on the opening day of the new season on August 16, with coverage of his game against Swansea.

The channels, which are free for a second season for BT broadband customers, will also show current champions Manchester City three times in the Barclays Premier League during its initial selection of TV matches.

BT Sport recently signed a deal for up to four exclusively live matches a week from the Portuguese Primeira Liga, taking the channels total to six European leagues. BT Sport also shows exclusively live matches from the Barclays Premier League, Germany's Bundesliga, France's Ligue1, Italy's Serie A and the Scottish Professional Football League.
