OpenDNS to Present Open Source 3D Visualization Engine at Black Hat USA

WHO:

Thibault Reuille, security researcher at OpenDNS, is the creator of the 3D visualization engine. He believes the combination of visualization, distributed computing, and machine learning is the key to taking computer intelligence to the next level.

Andrew Hay, senior security research lead & evangelist at OpenDNS, leads the OpenDNS research team. He previously served as the Director of Applied Security Research and Chief Evangelist at CloudPassage (News - Alert), and was a senior security (industry) analyst for 451 Research.

WHAT:

This hands-on presentation will demonstrate how security analysts, researchers and data scientists can take any relational data set, massage the format and ultimately visualize the results. The presenters will share observations drawn from the results of the visualization that would not have appeared in traditional simple text form. They will also discuss how the engine has been used by OpenDNS to track CryptoLocker and CryptoDefense ransomware, Red October malware, the Kelihos botnet and even trace specific Syrian Electronic Army (SEA) campaigns.
