BRIEF: Suspicious package detonated at Dublin/Pleasanton BART station [The Daily Review, Hayward, Calif. :: ](Daily Review (Hayward, CA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Aug. 01--PLEASANTON -- A suspicious package detonated by law enforcement at BART's Dublin/Pleasanton station Friday morning turned out to hold harmless computer parts likely left behind by a passenger, authorities said. After blowing it up, technicians with the Alameda County Sheriff's Office bomb squad determined that the unattended U.S. Postal Service package found at the station contained electronics that were not a safety hazard, Sgt. Ray Kelly said. BART police closed the station on Owens Drive at 7:45 a.m. after the package was found in the middle of a platform at the station. Trains headed there were immediately turned around at the West Dublin station, said BART spokeswoman Alicia Trost. Just before 9:15 a.m. the bomb squad detonated the device, evaluated it and found it was simply computer parts, Kelly said. No injuries were reported. "It was suspicious because it was unattended at a BART station," Kelly said. "It would not be suspicious in a computer office." About 10:15 a.m. the bomb squad and law enforcement cleared the area, Kelly said. The station was reopened about 10:45 a.m. Contact Natalie Neysa Alund at 510-293-2469.
