Get equipped with one-minute technology [DNA : Daily News & Analysis (India)]

(DNA : Daily News & Analysis (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) "In past few decades, especially post internet revolution, we have moved from an era of man-power to an era of mind-power. In the information age, knowledge is power, and those who develop the ability to continuously acquire knowledge and generate fresh ideas will be the movers and shakers in the society for the indefinite future.

Take for example, at Intel labs, they consider life of their innovation approximately 18 months. This means, the data processing speed and capacity is doubling in less than two years, rapidly accelerating every occupation, profession and aspect of life. This poses a stiff challenge to acquire and upgrade our skills and knowledge at the same pace for you to survive.

If you wish to lead, then you have to acquire a faster pace of learning than the rate of change. If you take a closer look at the Fortune 500 companies list, you will observe every 10 years there is almost 60 per cent names dropout and the only those companies can make it at the top of the chart who are highly innovation, agile and consumer centric.

Now this brings us to a very interesting insight as what we are doing when we are awake (I mean with our charged smart phone) and what is happening around the world in one minute. Internet users from all over the world transfer 1,572,877 GB of data, send more than 204 million emails every minute, while Google is searching 4 million queries every 60 seconds making it the second most-popular activity on the web.

Can you imagine, Facebook an un-disputed leader of social media, alone generates more than 2.5 million posts (Updates and Likes) in sixty seconds while Apple users download 48,000 Apps, YouTube users upload a staggering 72 hours of content, Tweeple (Twitter users) tweet 2,77,000 times, WhatsApp users share 3,47,222 photos and Skype users connect for 23,000 hrs of talk time every single minute.

As people go fast and furious with Internet, an online dating site users swipe 416,617 other users, and Amazon makes $83,000 in online sales every 60 seconds. Some more interesting numbers -- In the year 2013 Apple music fans purchased more than 25 billion songs using iTunes store from more than 120 countries, averaging over 15,000 songs downloaded per minute. On other side, Larry Page of Google mentioned Google Play Store has surpassed 50 billion app downloads by mid-2013 and according to Statista, a leading statistics portal, about 1.5 million Android devices are activated every day, which means almost 1050 in a minute.

As these numbers reminds me of India's first 70MM film 'around the world in 8$' by the Late Raj Kapoor. Amazing things are happening in today's world and they are happening fast.

Knowledge is the raw material of success in this age.Knowledge of surroundings is expanding exponentially - innovations, technology scientific researches, economy, politics and much more. The more you learn and the faster you learn it, the more rapidly you move upward and onward in your career and in every other area of your life.""Leading entrepreneur and innovator Prashant Pansare writes about how technology is revolutionising our lives and the way we live.
