The Meeting of Parasite Museum and Cross-Straits Conference in Parasitology Teaching Kicks off at NCKU
TAINAN, Taiwan --(Business Wire)--
National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), southern Taiwan, hosts the
Meeting of Parasite Museum and Cross-Straits Conference in Parasitology
Teaching at the Third lecture Hall of Medical School at NCKU from July
31 to August 1.
A total of 55 experts and professors from 25 universities in Japan,
China and Taiwan have participated in the event to explore the issues in
Parasitology teaching.
Prof. Chii-Jeng Lin, director of NCKU Office of Student Affairs on
behalf of NCKU president Hwung-Hweng Hwung extends his warm welcome to
the guests at the opening ceremony in the afternoon of July 30.
Lin said, "NCKU values its museums greatly and the significant role the
univesity museums play in research and teaching is evident in NCKU."
NCKU is pleased to welcome Seiichi Kamegai, general manager of Meguro
Parasitological Museum (MPM), Japan, to give a talk on Meguro
Parasitological Museum: Its current status.
Kamegai said, "MPM established in 1953 has a very clear vision to help
educate and disseminate research results to the local community to
upgrade their health and hygiene."
More than 10,000 specimens left behind by Satyu Yamaguti are housed in
the museum, according to Kamegai.
Hong-Kean Ooi, professor from the Department of Veterinary Medicine,
Azabu University, Japan, is also invited to talk about Veterinary
Parasitology teaching in Japan on the second day of the conference.
Not only scholars from Japan but experts from China are also invited to
join the conference.
Chinese experts include Jiao-Jiao Lin, Deputy Director and Professor
from Shanghai Veterinary Research Institute, the Chinese Academy of
Agricultural Sciences, Chao-Ming Xia, Professor from Shanghai Medical
College, Fudan University, and Shi-Ping Wang from Xiangya School of
Medicine, Central South University.
A group discussion and poster session will be arranged at 2:00 p.m.,
August 1, with the conference wrapping up in the late afternoon.
