France : TELEFÓNICA uses ALCATEL-LUCENT technology for cloud DVR service [TendersInfo (India)](TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Telefónica s Movistar TV is using technology supplied by Alcatel-Lucent to provide its cloud DVR service. With the cloud service, Movistar subscribers can record up to 350 hours of content in the cloud through their set-top boxes. Moreover, they can record content from all channels at the same time. At first, the service was rolled out in February. Movistar TV has also utilized Alcatel-Lucent s 5910 video services appliance to introduce a mosaic-based feature for major sporting events that enables users to select between six different streams of sporting action. This service has been offered since March. Roque Lozano, president of Alcatel-Lucent Spain and global account manager for Telefónica stated: As Telefónica expands its fiber-to-the-home network it is also expanding its Movistar TV customer base. The success of the new features has been such that we are already exploring how we can increase the capacity and efficiency of the platform to handle the rapid growth in subscribers expected in the next year.
