Consumer forum asks firm to replace faulty Tab [DNA : Daily News & Analysis (India)](DNA : Daily News & Analysis (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Consumer forum has given respite to a consumer who had purchased a Tab worth Rs7000 from an electronics shop which was defective. The forum has ordered the electronics shop and the manufacturer company to replace the Tablet of the same make and cost to the consumer for free apart from also giving him Rs5000 as damages. The order was given on compliant filed by one Tapeshwar Pal Singh a resident of Mansarovar. Singh had complained to the forum that he purchased a Tablet of HCL Company from Hotspot Mobiles and More store from Mansarovar on November 2012. He paid Rs7000 for the tablet. Singh informed the forum that he was assured of high quality and performance of the tablet. He was informed that the tablet had 1 GB DDR3 RAM and its internal memory was 4 GB. He was also informed that the tablet had one year full replacement and if still there was any trouble than it would be serviced for free. However, after purchasing, the tablet regularly started switching off automatically. When the consumer checked the settings he saw the memory status as full and showed about 1.84 GB. However, at the time of purchase he was told that it had 4 GB internal memory. After the tablet stopped working completely, Singh approached the shop from where he had purchased it. He was asked to inform the company HCL Infosystems Limited about the problem. He was told by the shop that if the company does not increase the internal memory then the shop would replace the tablet. However, the company refused to repair the tablet and therefore Singh approached the consumer forum. The forum ordered the Shop and company to replace the tablet to the consumer.
