Neil Doncaster, the SPFL chief executive, explained Topping's ongoing involvement was down to a change in his circumstances: "Ralph Topping will be stepping down from the William Hill Board on 1st August. He will therefore have much more time to devote to the professional game.



"We are delighted that Peter Lawwell and Ralph Topping have been unanimously elected by the Professional Game Board to serve the professional game on the main board of the Scottish FA." The main SFA board now consists of Regan, Ogilvie, first vice- president Alan McRae (Cove Rangers), second vice-president Rod Petrie (Hibs), Tom Johnston (Scottish Junior FA), Barrie Jackson (independent, non-executive), Lawwell (Celtic) and Topping (SPFL).

Meanwhile the SPFL's board consists of Doncaster, Topping, Eric Riley (Celtic), Duncan Fraser (Aberdeen), Stephen Thompson (Dundee United), Mike Mulraney (Alloa), Eric Drysdale (Raith Rovers) and Ken Ferguson (Brechin City).
