Brewery's barrelling along with expansion [Daily Post (Liverpool, England)]

(Daily Post (Liverpool, England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) BREWERS preparing a move to larger premises have taken advantage of a management training programme. The Great Orme Brewery was established in 2005 and is currently at premises in Glan Conwy but a move to Builder Street in Llandudno will better accommodate this growing business with their plans for the future.

The new premises are due to open in mid to late October, with the brewery tours starting shortly after in early November.

To prepare for the new developments Sales Manager Tristian Greenfield has benefited from Elevate Gogledd's management training programme, as new staff are to be taken on in the expansion process.

An assistant brewer will be taken on in September and a second delivery driver, complete with new van, in January, with the prospect of further new jobs to follow.

Tristian attended the Elevate HR/management courses in order to ease the recruitment process and refine management practices. He said he found the course "invaluable".

He said: "What I have learnt will be very useful and I could not rate the training highly enough. Although we try to create a family atmosphere, we also aim to be very modern in the way we work and the courses gave me the chance to hone my management skills with a view to going forward in a dynamic way." A leading producer of quality real ale and lager, The Great Orme Brewery has a growing reputation as one of the area's premier breweries, with its ale now stocked in pubs, restaurants and hotels across North Wales.

Tristian has been so impressed with Elevate's business training he has signed up to the Social Media Marketing course starting in September, with Brewery Managing Director Jonathan Hughes following suit. By so doing, Tristian hopes to be able to further publicise the company and discuss its development in real time.

He added: "Given the track record of the previous training, I have high hopes for the new course and am looking forward to it. I have everything to gain by looking deeper into digital media marketing in order to give us a better insight. There is always more to learn." Elevate Cymru is a work-based learning network offering a range of leadership and management courses. Tailored to meet the needs of employers and employees in micro, small, or medium sized businesses, training is fully funded for eligible companies.

The Great Orme Brewery produces a range of bottled beers and cask ales including Cambria, Orme, Celtica, Merlyn and Welsh Black. Atlantis and Ynys Mon have become available in bottle form this year and are already receiving rave reviews from real ale lovers.

It is also one of the four local breweries behind the thriving Albion pub, Conwy's highly acclaimed drinking establishment, which is bucking the national trend of pub closures, forming a testament to the growing popularity of microbreweries. In 2013 The Great Orme Brewery was awarded 'Champion Mild of Britain' for its Welsh Black, in the Champion Beer of Britain competition run by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), reputed to be the most prestigious beer competition in the country.
