PR and Creative Experts Join Calypso Communications

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Portsmouth, N.H., July 30, 2014 (PRWEB) July 30, 2014 Calypso Communications, an integrated, full-service public relations, branding, and graphic design firm, today announced the addition of Tiffany Nelson and Marc Checket. Nelson serves as public relations manager, providing media relations and crisis communications strategy in addition to messaging and content creation. Checket joins the design team as a graphic designer, creating print, video, and animation assets to support client messaging.

"Calypso provides clients with sophisticated communications strategies, blending creative content and finely crafted messaging to support their business goals," says Kevin Stickney, Calypso's founder and president. "Tiffany and Marc's expertise will help our team better meet the growing demand for these services." Nelson's experience in public relations, crisis communications, media relations, and content marketing spans corporate and healthcare industries, providing Calypso's clients with a unique perspective into the management of their particular communications challenges. Prior to joining Calypso, she served as marketing manager at Maine Medical Center, where she oversaw the promotion of several large service lines, including cardiology and oncology, as well as specialty physician practices in broad campaigns that integrated PR, marketing, and digital media. As director of public affairs and marketing at Elliot Health System in New Hampshire, Nelson managed crisis communications, keeping media and the community informed during high-profile crisis situations.

Nelson began her career in broadcast news. She attended the University of New Hampshire, where she studied communications, history, and political science prior to earning a BS in communications from Emerson College.

"Calypso does an amazing job of telling its clients' stories and connecting with its key stakeholders," says Nelson. "I'm delighted to join a dynamic and talented team that so well understands the complexity of today's communication challenges." Checket brings more than a decade of experience as an art director and designer in the advertising industry. He spent 13 years in New York City as a designer and art director in the entertainment advertising industry at Terry Hines & Associates (THA). In this role, he worked closely with executives at large studios including Warner Brothers, Disney, and Focus Features to conceive and create commercial and trade campaigns promoting feature films, including Dallas Buyers Club and Moonrise Kingdom.

As production manager at THA, Checket managed a staff of artists and proofreaders to create more than 50 daily ads for publications across the country, including The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Boston Globe, and The Washington Post. Checket studied graphic design at Pratt Institute's Manhattan Campus.

"One of the things that I found compelling about Calypso was the wide array of creative means they use to reach their audiences," said Checket.
