SAIC Conducted Antimonopoly Raid against Microsoft (China)

(Sinocast Computers & Electronics Beat (China) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) BEIJING, July 30, SinoCast -- China's State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) on July 28 organized nearly 100 law enforcement officers in nine provinces and municipalities, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Sichuan, Fujian, Hubei, Jiangsu, Chongqing and Hebei to conduct an anti-monopoly raid on Microsoft (China) Co., Ltd. and its Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu branches.

In June 2013, SAIC conducted an investigation against the accusation reported by some companies that Microsoft does not provide full disclosure of its Windows operating system- and Office software-related information to result in compatibility, tied sale, file validation and other problems to be suspected of violating China's anti-monopoly law.

SAIC decided to register and investigate Microsoft's alleged monopolistic behavior as the early-stage check cannot eliminate the anticompetitive suspicion.
