Alcatel-Lucent and Telefonica bring network DVR services to nearly one million Movistar customers in Spain(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 29 July 2014 Release date- 28072014 - Paris - Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) and Telefonica have enabled a new cloud-based TV feature for Telefonica's pay TV service, Movistar TV. Using Alcatel-Lucent's award-winning Cloud DVR solution, Movistar subscribers now have access to up to 350 hours of personal online recording through their set-top boxes with a service that allows simultaneous use of all channels. An innovative 'mosaic' TV feature for major sporting events also allows customers to select between six different streams of the live action. Key Facts: Telefonica was among the first service providers in Spain to launch a pay TV offering in 2001 and now reaches nearly one million subscribers. Alcatel-Lucent is providing its Cloud DVR solution, enabling new pay TV features and multi-screen online recordings which give Telefonica a clearly differentiated offer in the Spanish marketplace. These features include: Personal online recording, launched commercially in February 2014, provides each Movistar customer with unlimited simultaneous channel recording and up to 350 hours of network DVR storage. Mosaic, launched in March 2014, is an interactive service for major sporting events which uses Alcatel-Lucent's 5910 Video Services Appliance to enable customers to switch instantly between six different streams of the live action. Alcatel-Lucent is also supporting Telefonica in its fiber-to-the-home deployments as part of the Movistar Fusion service.
